Touch Me When We're Dancing / Because We Are In Love

1981

The Carpenters first single of the 80's turned out to be their last Top 20 single.  After being released as the lead single from the "Made in America" album in June 1981, "Touch Me..." peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #16 on August 15, 1981.  It did reach #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
The top five on the Hot 100 on August 15 were:
5 - "Elvira" - The Oak Ridge Boys
4 - "Jessie's Girl" - Rick Springfield
3 - "I Don't Need You" - Kenny Rogers
2 - "Theme from "The Greatest American Hero" - Joey Scarbury
1 - "Endless Love" - Diana Ross and Lionel Richie
I purchased this single in 1981.
