Make Believe It's Your First Time /
Look to Your Dreams
Released a few months after Karen's death, "Make Believe It's Your First Time" reached #17 on the Adult Contemporary chart, but peaked at #101, just below the Hot 100 chart.
Bobby Vinton had released the song in 1978 and it charted higher than what the Carpenters' version did.
This song had actually been recorded in 1979 for Karen's solo album (that was released in 1996). Richard created a very different arrangement from the solo album and had a bridge added to the song.
While it isn't my favorite song, I do enjoy listening as it brings back memories of when I received this album. Released in October 1983 after Karen had passed away in February, this album has an emotional draw for me.
I purchased this single on eBay many years ago.
