"Hurting Each Other" was the lead single off of A Song for You.  It was released on December 23, 1971 and peaked at #2 on January 15, 1972.  It was held out of the #1 spot by "Without You" by Nilsson and it was ranked #65 on the Billboard Year End chart.  The "b" side, "Maybe It's You" is from Close to You and was written by Richard and John Bettis.
