There were several versions of "Gold" in the early 2000's, released from various countries.

The US version was released as part of a 35th anniversary of the Carpenters signing with A&M records in 1969.

This cover was released a little later and the "anniversary" text had been removed.  This is a great compilation and I really enjoyed listening to it when it first came out.

This compilation is the first time three songs had been released in the US: “Leave Yesterday Behind”, “The Rainbow Connection”, and “California Dreamin'”.  It also gave fans a CD version for the first time of the single mix of “Solitaire," which included the added pipe organ on the chorus.
