Rainy Days and Mondays /
Saturday - 1971
"Rainy Days and Mondays" is one of my favorite Carpenters songs. It sounds as if Karen is right there with you and singing the song specifically for you. The warmth and the presence. Awesome.
The song was released on April 23, 1971 and peaked on the Billboard chart at #2 on May 15. It was held out of the #1 spot by "It's Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move" by Carole King. It was their fourth song to go to #1 on the Adult Contemporary singles chart.
"Saturday" was written by Richard and John Bettis and was sung by Richard.
From the Singles 69-73 on, it would almost always be heard as part of the connected trilogy with "Superstar" and "Goodbye to Love".
